THE SPEC'd LIST :: Inspiration and Conversation

SPRING | MAY 2021 Issue

May 19, 2001

Twenty years ago in May, Chilewich Contract was introduced, combining distinctive design with durability and easy maintenance for spaces that demanded the best of both worlds: refined aesthetics and proven performance. It was just the beginning.

Since the 2001 debut of Chilewich flooring, our commitment to original design and American craftsmanship has fueled the development of solutions for virtually every surface, in spaces ranging from offices and hospitals to museums and cars, across the globe.

In the coming months, Chilewich will be celebrating their 20th anniversary by highlighting the achievements that have made them who they are today, from the early votes of confidence from Herman Miller and the ICFF editors’ jury to the material and manufacturing innovations that continue to propel them forward, along with key projects that span a range of applications and industries.

MADE IN THE SHADE

Bring those plants off the walls and hang them from the furniture!

An original bold design that creates a statement centerpiece for any environment. Relic Cloud has been designed as a canvas to enable you to incorporate both biophilia and lighting options.

QUARTER TURN

A simple shape ready for pattern play, in multiple depths to mix and match. The T-Fold tile is part of the FOLD acoustical ceiling tile collection.

The product ships flat and magically folds into a three-dimensional tile on site—channel your inner child and think pop-up book. The material and shape provide both effective acoustics and pleasing aesthetics.

Drop the tiles into any 9/16” or 15/16” tee-grid. Simply by changing their orientation in the grid, you can create an unlimited variety of patterns.

EN MASSE

It takes a special design to look amazing in a large group... which is exactly why the 40/4 chair is our top pick for a high density stacking chair.

Its elegant lines, excellent ergonomics, and unsurpassed ability to create space without taking up space continues to attract architects and designers.

The best stackable chair in the world and other HOWE furniture can be yours in a flash.

Howe's Quick Ship products are in stock and ready to go within 5 days of PO. Items ship from Grand Rapids, MI.

DESERT IN FULL BLOOM

If you haven't done so, visit the desert in the Springtime. Seeing the cacti in bloom is a beautiful dichotomy... a delicate flower atop of a prickly pear.

Taliesin West was architect Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and school in the Sonoran desert from 1937 until his death in 1959 at the age of 91. Today it is the headquarters of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Open to the public for tours, Taliesin West is located on Frank d in Scottsdale, Arizona. If you're up for a more local trip, Taliesin in Spring Green, WI is worth the drive.
